ACC Action Applauds House Passage of the SPEED Act

WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) applauds the House passage of the SPEED Act today.

ACC Action President Chris Barnard said, “The SPEED Act is proof that Congress is dedicated to delivering a bipartisan deal on permitting reform. Republicans and Democrats can agree that we should not maintain unnecessary barriers to critical energy and conservation projects. We are one step closer to letting America build.”

This legislation, sponsored by House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and Representative Jared Golden (D-ME), will unleash all forms of American energy and commonsense conservation practices by modernizing the National Environmental Policy Act to provide clarity and avoid years of frivolous litigation.

ACC Action has consistently supported robust permitting reform efforts, including the SPEED Act, and most recently released a permitting framework to guide bipartisan conversations on Capitol Hill.

ACC Action urges the Senate to build on the momentum of the SPEED Act and send a bipartisan deal to the president’s desk before the end of the 119th Congress.
