ACC Announces More Than 1,000 Student Signatures
in Support of SC Energy Freedom Act

The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) is thrilled to announce more than 1,000 South Carolina students have signed a petition in support of the Energy Freedom Act, which opens up the marketplace and allows energy producers to receive compensation for the energy they produce at market value.  This is an important step toward greater energy freedom in South Carolina, and a positive example for states around the country to follow.

ACC Chief Operating Officer Danielle Butcher said: “The Energy Freedom Act is an exciting piece of legislation that empowers local energy producers and encourages renewable energy production by using market-incentives rather than intrusive mandates and regulation. We are thrilled by the broad support for this bill and know that South Carolina students look to  clean energy as an important part of their state’s diverse energy portfolio.”

As part of our efforts to advance the Energy Freedom Act, ACC has had team members on the ground in South Carolina to spread awareness and to help organize a state lobby day around the issue.  This release is concurrent with the rally for solar reform at the SC State House. We look forward to the bill’s passage, and applaud today’s rally as an even greater show of support. ACC is hopeful that this Act is a step in the right direction to promote greater energy freedoms around the country.
