New ACC Action Polling Shows Climate is Top Priority for Young, Independent Voters

WASHINGTON – Ahead of November’s presidential election, a new poll indicates that climate is an important issue across party lines, especially for young and independent voters.

The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) is releasing new polling in collaboration with Stack Data Strategy. The data shows that 65% of Americans see climate as urgent, while they trust Democrats 21 points more than Republicans to tackle it. Kamala Harris currently leads Donald Trump by 31 points among young voters, while climate ranks as the top issue these voters trust Harris over Trump on.

Importantly, not engaging on climate is far more of a liability for Republicans than engaging on it, with 44% of independents more likely to support a candidate with a plan to address climate change, while only 7% are less likely.

ACC Action CEO Danielle B. Franz said: “Republicans must lead on climate not only to have success at the ballot box, but to strengthen the conservative movement for years to come. Fortunately, the best solutions are aligned with conservative values: unleashing clean, reliable nuclear energy, letting America build the energy projects we need to power tomorrow, and dominating energy markets on the world stage. Conservative climate leadership is common sense.”

Joe Bedell, Head of Stack Data Strategy in North America, said: “While Democrats hold an advantage on the issue, Republicans have an opportunity to connect climate action with economic competitiveness, especially in the race against China.”

ACC Action looks forward to continuing to push climate and energy issues to the forefront on behalf of our 50,000 members across the country. See the full polling memo here.
