ACC Action Releases Permitting Reform Recommendations

WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) has released recommendations for a robust energy permitting reform deal in Congress.

ACC Action President Chris Barnard said, “We’ve built big, beautiful things in America before, and we can do so again. Congress must act to remove unnecessary barriers in the way of needed energy projects, from transmission lines and pipelines to geothermal wells and LNG export terminals, that will help us meet our increasing energy demand and lead on reindustrialization. ACC Action’s policy recommendations are the path forward to the permitting deal that America needs.”

Over the past few years, ACC Action has been deeply involved in permitting reform discussions and advocacy on Capitol Hill and beyond. Pushing for smart reforms that unleash energy potential while conserving our natural environment, ACC Action’s sister organization, ACC, has hosted bipartisan, bicameral convenings for legislative staff and educational briefings on the hill.

These permitting policy recommendations are borne from those conversations and pull from several pieces of promising legislation, from the judicial review reforms of the SPEED Act of 2025 to strategic categorical exclusions of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024.

Leaders in Congress must come to the table to unlock America’s ability to build the energy projects the nation so desperately needs. Waiting is no longer an option; the moment the government is reopened, Congress must get to work to deliver a deal.
