Bipartisan Group of Senators Prioritize Natural Climate Solutions

WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) applauds the bipartisan group of senators promoting natural climate solutions ahead of the 117th Congress.

Senators Braun (R-IN), Coons (D-DE), Young (R-IN), and King (I-ME) introduced The Trillion Trees Act and Natural Carbon Storage Act today. This legislation would authorize $10 million for increased tree planting and provide support for forest management and conservation programming. The bill differs from The Trillion Trees Act in the House of Representatives but nevertheless demonstrates a clear commitment to acting on both conservation and climate issues.

ACC VP of Government Affairs Quill Robinson said: “These Senators have sent a clear signal ahead of the new year that the way forward on climate change is effective, bipartisan legislation that empowers, rather than punishes, Americans and incentivizes market-based, localized solutions.”

ACC looks forward to working with these legislators and more on natural climate solutions in 2021 and beyond.
