ACC Applauds House Passage of the Great American Outdoors Act

WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives passed the Great American Outdoors Act today with more than 300 votes in favor. The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) applauds the bipartisan coalition that prioritized our National Parks and public lands.

The Great American Outdoors Act addressed the National Park Service’s deferred maintenance backlog and permanently funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Introduced in the Senate by Cory Gardner of Colorado, the bill passed  through the chamber with 73 votes in favor in June.

ACC VP of Government Affairs Quill Robinson said: “This is a historic moment for the conservation movement. Republicans and Democrats came together to ensure that Americans for generations to come will be able to enjoy our country’s natural beauty. ACC is grateful for the strong bipartisan leadership on this important issue.”

ACC’s activists supported the Restore Our Parks Act and have advocated on behalf of the Great American Outdoors Act since its introduction in March through  op-eds, blog posts, social media campaigns, and emails to their legislators. In May, ACC joined 850 other organizations in a coalition letter to Congressional leadership.

We look forward to President Trump signing this legislation into law to protect America’s best idea.
