ACC Action Applauds Inclusion of Bipartisan Climate Bill in the Omnibus
WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) applauds the inclusion of the Growing Climate Solutions Act in the end-of-year omnibus bill.
The Growing Climate Solutions Act lowers barriers to entry to voluntary carbon markets for farmers, ranchers, and landowners. ACC Action and our activists have long advocated for the final passage of this bill by writing op-eds, emailing members of Congress, and hosting events about the importance of natural climate solutions.
The bill passed the Senate last summer with an overwhelming 92 votes in favor thanks to the leadership of Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI). In the House, Representatives Don Bacon (R-NE) and Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) have led the charge to build support.
ACC Action President and Founder Benji Backer said: “The Growing Climate Solutions Act shows us that bipartisan climate action is not only possible — it’s already happening. Pragmatic Republicans and Democrats worked tirelessly to pass this legislation in an effort to protect our environment, support America’s farmers, and grow our economy, all in one bill. It’s common-sense solutions like these that allow us to move forward. Natural climate solutions are the most popular climate solution we have — and I hope this is the first of many such successes.”
ACC Action looks forward to more bipartisan climate successes in the 118th Congress.
