The American Conservation Coalition (ACC) applauds the passage of the Energy Freedom Act in the South Carolina legislature. This legislation opens the door to more energy freedom for South Carolinians across the state, and encourages other states to follow their example by expanding their energy markets and giving more choice back to consumers.
ACC Chief Operating Officer Danielle Butcher said: “We’re thrilled to see South Carolina approve this market-based, common-sense measure to increase South Carolinians’ access to clean and renewable energy. The Energy Freedom Act is a win for both consumers and the environment, and students have done a tremendous job of making their voices heard in this process.”
The Energy Freedom Act is a step in the right direction for South Carolina and the rest of the country, as both pursue policies that allow more energy freedom and choice for consumers. ACC applauds the efforts of South Carolina legislators to promote this energy freedom, and hopes that other states will follow their example and allow consumers to take greater control of energy sources for their families and communities.
