ACC Action Urges Passage of Bipartisan Permitting Deal
WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) applauds the introduction of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA), the result of robust negotiations in the Senate.
ACC Action President Chris Barnard said, “We once built big things in America. It’s time we do so again. ACC Action, along with our thousands of grassroots members, applauds this bipartisan effort to streamline our onerous permitting process and provide certainty for much-needed energy projects while continuing to protect our environment and wildlife. This bill will result in lower costs and cleaner, American energy.”
The bill addresses key challenges within the permitting process, including lack of certainty, frivolous litigation, and delayed timelines. The bill also addresses transmission reform and build-out, a crucial part of meeting our nation’s growing energy needs. The final bill was introduced thanks to the leadership of Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Mike Lee (R-UT), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), chairs and ranking members of the Environment and Public Works and Energy and Natural Resources Committees.
ACC Action urges the Senate, followed by the House, to swiftly pass BAAJA and send it to President Trump’s desk.
