ACC Action Applauds NEPA Reform Efforts

WASHINGTON – The American Conservation Coalition Action (ACC Action) applauds House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) for his leadership in seeking bipartisanship input on common-sense reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

A discussion draft led by Chairman Westerman would streamline and clarify the environmental review process, specifically in regard to procedural hurdles and judicial review. This draft is a welcome addition to the Energy Permitting Reform Act proposed by Senators Manchin (I-WV) and Barrasso (R-WY).

ACC Action’s Andrew Mills said: “To secure a clean energy future and reduce emissions, we must pursue bipartisan, robust, and comprehensive permitting reform. Chairman Westerman’s draft is an essential piece to stopping frivolous lawsuits and unnecessary delays from getting in the way of building out clean energy in the United States.”

House Natural Resources Committee will have a hearing on this bill, along with two others, later this morning. ACC Action will continue to support efforts in both chambers to cut red tape to unleash American energy dominance.
